Director of Accounts Payable

The Director will oversee high-volume payment operations, vendor management, internal controls, team leadership, and improvements across the procure-to-pay process. The position works across Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations to maintain accurate and timely payment processing and address issues affecting AP operations. What This Position Offers Lead a large-scale, high-volume Accounts Payable function Manage and develop AP managers, supervisors, and accounting professionals Work directly with senior Accounting and Finance leadership Oversee AP operations, vendor management, controls, and payment processes Establish and monitor KPIs, service levels, and productivity measures Lead system enhancements and automation initiatives within Accounts Payable Partner with Treasury, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations Comprehensive benefits, retirement programs, PTO, and professional development opportunities Key Responsibilities of the Director of Accounts Payable Provide operational leadership for the Accounts Payable function Oversee high-volume invoice processing, payment operations, vendor management, and related AP activities Lead and develop AP managers, supervisors, and accounting professionals Establish clear responsibilities, performance expectations, and operating procedures across the AP team Ensure vendor payments are processed accurately and according to established deadlines Maintain and strengthen Accounts Payable policies, procedures, and internal controls Establish and monitor AP KPIs, service levels, productivity metrics, and operational performance Partner with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Operations to resolve payment and process issues Lead automation, system enhancements, and workflow improvements across the procure-to-pay processOversee vendor escalations, payment discrepancies, and complex reconciliation issues Support month-end and year-end close activities, reconciliations, audits, and financial reporting requirements Identify and implement opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of Accounts Payable operations Qualifications For The Director Of Accounts Payable Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required 7+ years of progressive Accounts Payable or shared services experience 3+ years of significant leadership experience within a high-volume Accounts Payable environment Demonstrated experience leading managers, supervisors, or accounting professionals Strong knowledge of full-cycle Accounts Payable and procure-to-pay processes Experience with vendor management, payment operations, reconciliations, and internal controls Experience establishing or managing AP operational metrics and service levels Experience working within a large, multi-entity organization strongly preferred Healthcare, shared services, or another similarly complex operating environment is a plus Strong ERP and financial systems experience Experience implementing process improvements, automation, or system enhancements Ability to work effectively across Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Operations Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements Benefits & Professional Development $165,000 – $175,000 base compensation Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Retirement savings programs Paid time off and company holidays Tuition and professional development opportunities Responsibility for a large-scale Accounts Payable operation Direct interaction with senior Accounting and Finance leadership Experience leading automation and process improvement initiatives across the procure-to-pay function Who This Director of Accounts Payable Role Is Built For The ideal Director of Accounts Payable has already led a large, high-volume Accounts Payable or shared services operation and understands the operational complexity that comes with managing significant invoice and payment activity. #J-18808-Ljbffr
