If this sounds like an organization you would like to be a part of, we would love to meet you.Role Overview and PurposeThe Medical Assistant- General Medicine will support various providers, advanced providers, and registered nurses to provide excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will communicate with patients and perform clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesDirect Patient Care:Communicates and performs clinical care services with patientsTakes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake informationPerforms clinical procedures such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, and EKGsDiscuses patient needs and provides education and resources to patients directlyEnsures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and set up for examinations and proceduresProvider And Team Support:Coordinates provider workflows to ensure efficient patient careEnsures provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs and required screeningsAssists other providers and care teams in women's health, pediatrics and general medicine departments as neededClinical Administration:Utilizes electronic health records to order, process and document clinical treatment plans for patient as directed by the providerConveys information to patients via telephone or email under the direction of a provider or Registered NurseProvides patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate and executed by the providerCompletes ongoing/annual training for position complianceEducation/ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredValid medical assistant certificate from an accredited program requiredCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines- may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards.Additional Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Familiarity with medical procedures and terminologyProficiency with electronic health records system experience preferredIntermediate computer and data entry skillsMust use sound judgment to anticipate needs of patients and providersFlexibility with changing priorities and time sensitive deadlinesUse emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate communication and patient careExemplify compassion to patients and team membersBilingual English/Spanish, English/Farsi, or English/Arabic preferred - must be able to pass Language Proficiency Test if bilingual skills are neededAbility to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to work as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical mannerPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift/carry 15 lbs/weightAbility to stand for long periods of timeCompliance (Safety & HIPAA)Follow all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare's Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediatelyMaintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practicesFollow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditionsUse appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environmentBe familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exitsFollow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocolsMaintain privacy of all patients, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposesComply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligationsReport all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawfulNeighborhood Healthcare offers a generous benefit plan that includes: Partially company paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate's overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs.
