Inspector General DutiesDirect and oversee independent audits and investigations of NEA programs, grantees, contractors, and internal operations to meet federal requirements.Develop and implement agency-wide audit objectives, policies, procedures, and the Annual Audit Work Plan.Enhance economic performance and operational efficiency, while ensuring effective prevention and detection of fraud, waste, and abuse within NEA programs and activities.Coordinate and issue semiannual Inspector General reports to Congress, tracking problems, deficiencies, corrective actions, and progress.Manage the annual financial statement audit, serving as COTR for contracted independent auditors and ensuring legal compliance.Review proposed and existing laws and regulations and advise the NEA Chair and Congress on impacts and fraud prevention measures.Lead OIG budget, staffing, supervision, and performance management to accomplish office objectives and statutory responsibilities.
