Project Overview:

TheGroundworks and MarineSectoris part of theInfrastructureGlobal Business Unit (GBU)and Heavy Civil Business Line. It isbased in Houstonandpartnerswith other Global Business Units (GBUs)and Business Linesto self-perform(direct hire)critical civil, earthworks, marine, and foundation scopes that might otherwise be subcontracted.

The Groundworks and Marine Sectorcollaboratesacrossthe lifecycle of projects,includingin theestimating,pre-constructionplanningand execution phaseswith a particular focus onscheduling, project controls, supply chain, and construction execution.

By applying heavy civil expertise, Bechtel processes, and lessons learned from major LNG projects, the Cross-GBU model delivers safe, cost-competitive, schedule-driven execution while reducing risk, improving self-perform productivity, and providing proven capability in complex site development, ground improvement, piling, marine infrastructure, and other heavy civil works.

Job Summary:

The Field Engineer (Civil)willbe based in the Houston office andsupportthe upcoming proposals/FEED/Execution Planning/Estimate work ona wide range of upcoming Cross GBUProspects.Responsibilities includepre-construction planning, developingexecution strategies,supportingestimating/ project controlsandinitial project mobilization,with a view ofmobilization to the fieldin the long term.#LI-RM1

Major Responsibilities:

• Develop constructability concepts, prepare storyboards and provide construction support to Estimating and other GBU's / Functions.
• Develop construction execution plans and determine execution strategies.
• Review drawings and takeoff quantities
• Establish requirements for craft, tools, equipment, materials and field professionals.
• Work closely with Project Controls to logically sequence construction activities.
• Maintain effective interface between construction teams at other Bechtel offices and jobsites ensuring construction knowledge, lessons learned, construction initiatives are captured for use in future projects.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Engineering on the procurement of subcontracts, service requisitions and material requisitions.
• Participate in design development and propose economical and safe construction practices for incorporation into the design.
• Support automation development programs related to construction
• Assist in project mobilization, working closely with other functions and teams to set up projects for success.
• Develop construction execution documentation (installation work packages, inspection test plans, etc..) for scopes of work in support of the construction schedule.
• Assist with Engineering to ensure Engineering deliverables are issued to support the construction schedules.
• Prepare field material requisitions for equipment and materials, and monitoring status of purchase orders and deliveries
• Support subcontract activities and ensure materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications.
• Provide input to quantity tracking applications and report on weekly installed quantities

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of0-2years of relevant work experience, or2-4years relevant experience in the absence of a degree

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Computer literate in word processing,spreadsheetand database applications
• Knowledge ofcivilengineering and construction methods
• Ability to read construction drawings
• Displays effective communications skills crucial tocollaboratively working withdifferent functionsand teams
• Presentsplans in a clear and concise manner
• Excellent problem-solving ability
• Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site.
