About the Opportunity

We are looking for an IT Support Technician to support engineering lab environments for a leading global aerospace and defense technology organization.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their IT career who wants to get into a major aerospace environment, gain hands-on experience, and continue developing their technical skills.

This is not a traditional help desk position. The role is very hands-on and ticket-driven, supporting the day-to-day technology needs of highly skilled engineers working in specialized lab environments.

Depending on the needs of the team, you could be troubleshooting an engineers technical issue, setting up a new workstation, replacing or configuring hardware, supporting Windows systems, completing maintenance, or handling other hands-on IT requests.

You do not need to be an advanced systems engineer. Someone with 6 months to 1+ year of IT experience and the right personality can be a great fit.

What Youll Be Doing

• Work through IT support tickets based on the needs of the engineering teams

• Set up, configure, and support computer workstations

• Provide hands-on hardware and software support

• Troubleshoot Windows computers and related technology

• Support highly technical engineers with their day-to-day IT needs

• Provide professional, white-glove support to end users

• Perform system maintenance and upgrades

• Assist with small and local infrastructure environments

• Work directly with engineering and IT teams

• Communicate with users regarding technical issues, outages, and maintenance

• Create and maintain technical documentation

• Gain exposure to Linux environments, including Red Hat and Ubuntu

• Support both current and legacy technologies

• Take on additional hands-on IT responsibilities based on the needs of the team

What Were Looking For

• 6 months to 1+ year of hands-on IT experience

• Help desk, desktop support, technical support, field support, internship, or similar experience

• Windows troubleshooting experience

• Basic computer hardware and software knowledge

• Comfortable setting up and troubleshooting workstations

• Strong customer-service mindset

• Great personality and strong communication skills

• Professional and comfortable supporting engineers and technical users

• Someone who takes ownership of issues and wants to help

• Willingness to learn new technologies and take on different responsibilities

• High school diploma or equivalent

Nice to Have

• White-glove or high-touch IT support experience

• Linux experience

• Red Hat or Ubuntu exposure

• Enterprise IT experience

• Experience supporting engineering, lab, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments

These are preferred skills, not requirements.

Supporting High-Level Engineers

A major part of this position is directly supporting highly skilled engineers who depend on their workstations and lab technology to do their jobs.

When an engineer has an IT issue, youll be one of the people they rely on to get them back up and running. That makes personality, communication, responsiveness, and professionalism extremely important.

Were looking for someone who enjoys working with people and understands that great IT support isnt just about fixing the technology. Its also about providing a great experience to the person youre supporting.

White-glove support experience is a huge plus for that reason.

This is a long-term, year-over-year contract, and we currently have individuals who have been on the team for 3+ years.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
