Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of critical raw materials, consumables, and scientific supplies that support laboratory, manufacturing, quality, and operational activities.

Partner with internal stakeholders across Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Research teams to ensure continuity of supply for regulated materials and services.

Evaluate supplier capabilities, quality systems, technical expertise, and operational performance to support business and compliance requirements.

Support sourcing initiatives for GMP and non-GMP materials, ensuring alignment with quality standards, business objectives, and operational needs.

Analyze supplier performance metrics, inventory trends, and material utilization data to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost optimization, and risk mitigation.

Participate in supplier business reviews and cross-functional discussions focused on quality, delivery performance, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with Quality and Technical Operations teams to assess supplier risks, support qualification activities, and assist with corrective action follow-up when required.

Conduct market research and supplier evaluations to identify alternative sources, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions that enhance supply reliability.

Track sourcing projects and provide updates regarding milestones, timelines, supplier performance, and value-driven initiatives.

Assist with management of material discrepancies, supplier returns, and issue resolution activities while maintaining appropriate documentation and communication across sites.

Develop and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure consistent support of laboratory, manufacturing, and business operations.

Contribute to site and cross-functional initiatives focused on operational excellence, supply continuity, process standardization, and supplier development.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience supporting material availability, supplier performance, and supply continuity within a regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or advanced manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated ability to investigate material shortages, supplier-related issues, and operational constraints while documenting findings, supporting root cause investigations, and driving sustainable corrective actions.

Strong analytical capabilities with experience utilizing operational, quality, inventory, or supplier data to identify trends, improve processes, and enhance business performance.

Proven ability to influence stakeholders, navigate complex challenges, and support change initiatives across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple projects, material requests, and business needs while meeting critical timelines.

Strategic problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to identify opportunities that increase efficiency, reliability, and operational effectiveness.

Experience evaluating cost drivers, business impacts, and value-based solutions to support informed decision-making and resource planning.

Familiarity with regulated manufacturing environments, quality systems, supplier compliance requirements, and applicable industry standards.

Understanding of supplier lifecycle management, technical assessments, and external partner collaboration within a GMP-regulated setting.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Technical Operations, Engineering, and Scientific functions.

Experience supporting complex business discussions and negotiations involving quality, service, operational performance, capacity planning, and risk management.

Ability to balance scientific, operational, quality, and commercial considerations when making recommendations and driving business decisions.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, or the scientific field, or a related field; MBA preferred.

Minimum of 8 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Hands-on experience supporting cGMP operations, including familiarity with change control and quality management processes.

Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Experience conducting cost, pricing, and supplier evaluations with a focus on total cost of ownership and value optimization.

Ability to analyze data, assess risks, and support strategic sourcing and procurement decisions.

Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Which direct materials will this individual be responsible for sourcing and managing?

The primary focus will be on direct raw materials used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including APIs, amidites, resins, and similar materials. Prior experience with these specific commodities is not required, as training will be provided.

Will this person have independent responsibility for negotiating supplier contracts, pricing, and terms?

No. This individual will work closely under the direction Strategic Sourcing and will support supplier management activities rather than independently leading contract negotiations.

Approximately how many key suppliers will they be expected to manage?

The individual will be responsible for supporting and managing relationships with approximately seven key suppliers.

This is a Contract position based out of Milford, MA.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
