TRAUMA THERAPIST

The Will County State's Attorney's Office - Will County Children's Advocacy Center, founded by State’s Attorney James Glasgow in 1995, is a hybrid government/private nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hope, healing, and justice for children and families impacted by abuse and violence. Accredited by the National Children’s Alliance and a proud United Way of Will County partner, the center serves over 700 new children annually. A multidisciplinary team—including prosecutors, law enforcement, medical professionals, and trauma-focused therapists—collaborates in a child-friendly environment to reduce trauma and foster recovery. The Will County CAC offers vital services such as forensic interviews, advocacy, trauma-focused therapy, medical exams, and more, relying on public and private funding to support its mission. Role Description The Trauma Therapist is a full-time, on-site role located in Joliet/Crest Hill, IL. The therapist will provide trauma-focused mental health services to children and non-offending family members, including assessment, individual and group therapy, and crisis intervention. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team, the therapist will contribute to creating a comprehensive plan for healing and recovery. Additional responsibilities include maintaining detailed clinical records, engaging in community outreach, and participating in professional development to stay updated on best practices in trauma therapy. Qualifications Proficiency in trauma-focused therapy approaches and individual/group therapy techniques Skills in conducting assessments, creating treatment plans, and maintaining thorough clinical documentation Strong collaboration abilities to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Exceptional communication and rapport-building skills with children and families Familiarity with child abuse, neglect, and trauma dynamics Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field Licensure or eligibility for licensure (LCSW, LCPC, or equivalent) in Illinois Experience with culturally responsive practices is a plus Passion for working with children and families impacted by traumatic experiences #J-18808-Ljbffr Will County State's Attorney - Children's Advocacy Center
