Equipment Operator Journey 1/2The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Southcoast Region Maintenance & Operations in Juneau is looking for an Equipment Operator Journey 1/2 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!Equipment Operator Journey 1: $28.54 / hourly - OT EligibleEquipment Operator Journey 2: $30.40 / hourly - OT EligibleWhat you will be doing:Equipment Operator - Journey 1 The incumbent will perform equipment operations commensurate with a journey-level operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of light duty equipment to perform maintenance activities in support of State of Alaska mission and maintenance of infrastructure. Use of heavy-duty equipment will be in a training capacity.Equipment Operator - Journey 2 The incumbent will perform equipment operations commensurate with a journeyman level operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of heavy equipment to perform maintenance activities. According to federal regulations, all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREDThis position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383), to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety-sensitive duties, and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.Equipment Operatory Journey 1 Hire approval is conditional in that the proposed appointee successfully obtains a Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire and signs an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.Equipment Operator Journey 2 A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at time of hire. A conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain an N-Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS This recruitment utilizes a supplemental questionnaire as part of the application process. This vacancy may be filled at either the Equipment Operator Journey 1 or Equipment Operator Journey 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at Level 1, promotion to the Level 2 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.EDUCATION To verify education is being used to meet and/or support the required minimum qualifications/competencies, you must fill in the Education section of the application.
