Regional Service Technician

Job Description

What You’ll be Doing:

\n

\n
• Repairs, maintains, services, and inspects fleet vehicles, equipment, and components.
\n
• Repairs, maintains, services, and inspects all components pertaining to medium trucks, heavy duty trucks, light duty vehicles (ex: engine chassis, air brakes/ABS, steering, suspension, transmissions, clutches, differentials, hydraulic and electrical systems).
\n
• Operates vehicles, equipment, and tools (ex: power tools, mobile lifts, wheel balancer, test equipment, etc.).
\n
• Performs, coordinates, oversees, and audits DOT/ANSI/OSHA inspections, troubleshooting, and diagnosing.
\n
• Performs general body repair and fabrication to cab and bodies/beds of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
\n
• Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
\n
• Initiates service calls and orders parts needed for equipment maintenance and repairs.
\n
• Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs mobile hydraulic systems, hoses, lines, cylinders, pumps, power take-
\n
• offs, control valves, relief valves, holding valves, selector valves and various hydraulic components.
\n
• Follows all safety standards put forth by Badger and transportation regulatory authorities.
\n
• Sets priorities for completion for inspections and maintenance.
\n
• Maintains and keeps service truck clean and presentable.
\n
• Travels to make remote repairs.
\n
• Reinforces safety practices and transportation policies.
\n
• Removes fleet assets from service as required to maintain fleet safety and mechanical functionality.
\n
• Collaborates on design modifications and provides feedback to engineering on recurring opportunities
\n
• for design improvements.
\n
• Collaborates on fleet safety practices, including documentation (policies, instructions, guidelines, etc.).
\n
• Supports asset tracking, utilization, and various system updates.
\n

What we’re looking for:

\n

\n
• Education: high school diploma or equivalent plus automotive repair training from a technical or vocational school or similar. 
\n
• Paccar technician certifications and/or National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) credential preferred. 
\n
• Minimum 5-years’ experience with diesel truck maintenance and repair. 
\n
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred or must have the ability to obtain a CDL.
\n
• Experience driving a manual transmission (10-18 speed) preferred. 
\n
• Demonstrated ability to perform work under minimal supervision. 
\n
• Strong mechanical aptitude and eye for detail. 
\n
• Fully applies oneself to the requirements of the position. 
\n
• Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds, standing/walking for extended periods, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions

What You'll Need For Success:

\n

\n
• Some knowledge with electronic diagnostics
\n
• Experience with Peterbilt and Western Star chassis a plus
\n
• Experience with troubleshooting Hydrovac equipment a plus
\n
• Knowledge of DOT compliance, laws, rules, regulations, and safety is helpful
\n
• Computer literate: Fleetio (our fleet services technology,) Microsoft, Outlook, and Excel
\n
• Will be required to provide your own standard tools; all specialty tools will be provided
\n
