Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ED - Emergency Department\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/28/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, evenings\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Evenings, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 28, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring recent Level 1 or 2 trauma experience and multiple advanced certifications.Details\n \n Level I Trauma Center ER with Pediatric State Certification and Comprehensive Stroke Center designation\n 20 total beds including 5 trauma bays, 10 OBS beds, and hallway beds\n 6-bed Fast Track area and separate 3-bed triage area\n Patient ratios of 1:4 in zones, 1:6 in Fast Track, 1:5 in OBS, and 1:1 in ICU/Trauma\n Common diagnoses include trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and stroke (TPA candidates)\n 24/7 in-house security, ED physicians/mid-levels, and charge nurse on every shift\n Nurse aides/EMTs/paramedics support at ratios of 1:10 in OBS and 1:20 in main ED\n Tele/monitor techs available, but RNs are required to read and interpret their own strips\n Uses EPIC EMR\n 12-hour shifts, various start times ranging from 0700-1900 through 1900-0700\n Weekend and holiday requirements vary based on department needs\n Floats to OBS unit and the Freestanding Creighton ER at least once weekly\n One week of unit-specific onboarding, including 2 shifts at Bergan and 1 shift at UC\n Requirements\n \n Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) for NE required, pending licenses not accepted\n Minimum 2 years of RN experience required\n Recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience required\n Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (NRP preferred)\n BSN not required for this position\n Must pass a Friday pass/fail open-book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%\n Driver's license required at time of consideration to verify residence location\n Artificial fingernails are prohibited in all patient care areas\n Additional Information\n \n Fast-paced, high-acuity emergency department environment\n Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position\n Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity\n Candidates who were directly employed by a CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible\n Up to 7 days of RTO must be requested upfront for the 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after submission\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-756376.
