Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Job Summary The College of Engineering at West Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Science. Candidates should have a earned doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related discipline and be prepared to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level, actively seek research grants, and contribute to the college’s mission. Work Performed Establish a sustainable, nationally recognized research program. Recruit and mentor graduate students through externally funded research. Publish high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship. Innovate in teaching and curriculum development. Engage in institutional, professional, and community service. Necessary Qualifications Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline (required). Ability to teach undergraduate computer science courses. Demonstrated potential for impactful research and external funding. Commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring students at all levels. Capacity to contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration across programs. Strong communication and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Academic, industry, or teaching background in core areas of Computer Science.
