Salary and Employment Details FLSA: Exempt. Salary Schedule: Per Approved salary schedule. Direct Report: Director of Special Programs. Terms of Employment: 196 days. Eligible for emergency telework: Yes. Purpose The job of the School Psychologist is done for the purpose(s) of measuring and interpreting the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children; interpreting results of psychological assessments; interpreting and applying state and federal codes; and developing strategies and interventions to address the needs of students. Essential Job Functions Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner. Telework when requested by the District. Be knowledgeable in child development and educative practices. Administer and interpret standardized and/or supplemental assessments for the purpose of measuring the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children and/or determining eligibility for services in compliance with regulatory requirements. Assess students' functional capabilities in multiple environments to determine student's functional level and develop recommendations for appropriate services and/or placement. Attend and/or facilitate meetings to coordinate the efforts of school staff and ensure state mandates are followed. Compile information from a variety of sources to produce a comprehensive evaluation report in compliance with established guidelines. Conduct individual and small group counseling for special education and at‑risk students, open IEP requirements to promote psychological, social and behavioral success in the educational setting. Consistent interaction with students to educate them. Consult with teachers, parents, other personnel and/or outside professionals to provide relevant information, develop plans, implement behavioral strategies, and make recommendations. Coordinate with community agencies including medical, judicial, social service, and mental health services to determine appropriate treatments and coordinate services to meet the needs of specific students. Provide counseling and resources to parents and guardians to enhance student success in school. Develop behavior plans, curriculum modifications, etc. to implement IEP goals and related objectives. Evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of school programs and interventions to ensure effective support for children who experience physical, mental, social or emotional difficulties. Interpret and explain assessment results and eligibility considerations to personnel to determine appropriate treatments and coordinate services. Intervene in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students to assist them in modifying such behavior and recommend research‑based actions. Participate on building intervention teams to discuss appropriate actions for at‑risk students. Prepare a wide variety of written materials, including assessment reports, correspondence, memos, behavior plans, Medicaid billings, required documentation, Psych Ed Summary, Psych Report, etc., to document activities, provide written reference, and/or convey information. Research resources and methods to determine the appropriate approach for addressing students' functional goals. Supervise interns, practicum students and others to monitor performance, provide professional growth and achieve overall objectives of school's curriculum. Perform various other duties as assigned to serve the needs of students and staff.
