School Counselor

We are seeking a dedicated School Counselor to join our team for the school year.

Hourly Rate Range : $35.00-47.00 per hour

Responsibilities Include:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the North Carolina Professional School Counselor Standards and the ASCA National Model.
• Provide counseling services that support students’ academic development, career readiness, and social-emotional well-being.
• Deliver individual, small-group, and classroom-based counseling addressing academic concerns, social skills, behavior, mental health, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
• Assist students with academic planning, career exploration, postsecondary preparation, and transition services.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, special education teams, and community providers to support student success.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, student support meetings, IEP and Section 504 meetings, and parent conferences as appropriate.
• Provide crisis intervention, referrals, and responsive services for students experiencing personal, behavioral, or mental health concerns.
• Analyze student data to identify needs and evaluate the effectiveness of school counseling services and programs.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation in accordance with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), FERPA, IDEA, and district requirements.
• Advocate for students and promote a safe, positive, equitable, and inclusive school environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree or higher in School Counseling from an accredited college or university.
• Completion of an approved graduate-level school counseling program.
• Valid North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in School Counseling issued by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), or eligibility for an appropriate provisional license.
• Successful completion of the Praxis Professional School Counselor examination, as required for licensure.
• Experience working with K–12 students in a school setting preferred.
• Knowledge of comprehensive school counseling programs, social-emotional learning, behavioral interventions, and crisis-response practices.
• Successful completion of all required criminal background checks and fingerprint clearances.
