Assistant Director of Nursing, RN Full-Time | Leadership Opportunity in Nursing

Position Responsibilities

As Assistant Director of Nursing, you will support the Director of Nursing in the overall management of nursing services and help ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide leadership, direction, and clinical support to nursing staff.

• Interpret and implement nursing, administrative, and patient/resident care policies.

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, regulatory, and accrediting standards.

• Establish and maintain high standards of nursing care and clinical practice.

• Assess, coordinate, plan, and implement systems that promote quality patient/resident outcomes.

• Monitor compliance with facility policies and nursing procedures.

• Meet regularly with nursing staff to identify opportunities for improvement and address clinical or operational concerns.

• Collaborate with physicians, therapy, social services, dietary, administration, and other departments to meet patient/resident needs.

• Review incident and accident reports and communicate findings and recommendations to nursing leadership and administration.

• Assist with development and maintenance of the Master Staffing Plan.

• Participate in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QA/PI), Infection Control, Safety, Ethics, Leadership, and other committees.

• Participate in investigations involving resident concerns, abuse allegations, accidents, and other reportable events as required.

• Participate in pre-admission screening and evaluation of prospective residents.

• Oversee CMI data collection and submission as required.

• Participate in government and regulatory surveys and inspections.

• Support continuous quality improvement through data collection, analysis, and outcome monitoring.

• Identify opportunities to improve systems of care and nursing operations.

• Ensure nursing units have appropriate medical, nursing, linen, and other supplies necessary for quality care.

• Promote resident safety and compliance with facility safety programs.

• Support employee health, safety, security, and corporate compliance initiatives.

• Assist with new-hire orientation and required training.

• Coordinate with department leaders to ensure department-specific training requirements are completed.

• Ensure annual mandatory education and training requirements are completed.

• Serve as a positive role model and resource for nursing staff.

Required Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.

• 4+ years of nursing administration/leadership experience .

• 2+ years of clinical nursing experience , preferably in an acute-care environment.

• CPR/BLS certification.

• Strong computer and electronic documentation skills.

• Knowledge of applicable state and federal nursing regulations and standards.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively with patients/residents, families, visitors, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

• BSN or Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or related field.

• Experience in sub-acute, skilled nursing, long-term care, or geriatric nursing .

• Knowledge of OBRA, Joint Commission standards, and applicable state regulations .

• Experience with QA/PI, infection prevention, regulatory surveys, staff education, and clinical quality improvement .

• Additional language skills are a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position is based in a healthcare/care-center environment and requires regular interaction with residents, staff, families, and other healthcare professionals.

The role may require:

• Regular walking throughout the care center.

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.

• Intermittent lifting and supporting of patients/residents.

• Occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds .

• Extended periods of computer/video display terminal use.

• Exposure to infectious diseases, medical specimens, and other healthcare-related conditions.

• Ability to respond appropriately to emotionally challenging or traumatic situations.
