Senior Cost Accountant

About the Role The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company’s standard costing system and providing detailed analysis of manufacturing performance. This role focuses on identifying production variances, managing the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOM), and ensuring that inventory and COGS are recorded in accordance with US GAAP. By partnering with Production and Supply Chain teams, you will deliver actionable insights into cost drivers and margin trends, playing a vital role in optimizing operational efficiency and supporting the month‑end close process. What You’ll Do Support the development and maintenance of the company’s standard costing system, ensuring all product costs are accurate and up to date. Perform detailed analysis of manufacturing variances, including material price, labor efficiency and overhead spending, to identify areas for cost improvement. Prepare and record monthly journal entries related to inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS) and manufacturing allocations. Conduct regular reviews of Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing to ensure accurate labor and overhead absorption. Participate in the month‑end close process by reconciling inventory sub‑ledgers to the general ledger and investigating discrepancies. Assist in calculating and applying overhead rates in accordance with company policy and US GAAP. Analyze changes in product design, raw materials or manufacturing methods to determine the impact on product costs and margins. Coordinate and support physical inventory counts and cycle‑counting programs at manufacturing or warehouse locations. What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. 2+ years of Accounting experience. Computer skills to include Excel, Monarch, Microsoft Word, e‑mail and accounting software packages. Prior experience with SAP highly desirable. Proficiency with 10 key. Experience and/or knowledge of SOX 404 requirements preferred. Compensation & Benefits Typical base salary ranges from $63,375 to $88,500 per year.
