Construction Project Accountant

We're hiring a Construction Project Accountant to own the financial and administrative side of our projects from contract award through final payment. T.W. Hicks engineers high-performance resinous flooring and gypcrete underlayment for commercial and industrial spaces. We're growing fast, and we need someone who combines construction accounting expertise with exceptional organization and a passion for helping the business run better. This isn't a seat-filler role. It's a keystone position. You'll own the financial processes that keep projects moving while serving as a key partner to project managers, field teams, and leadership. What you'll own: Construction billing from start to finish, including progress billing, AIA pay applications, lien waivers, retainage, and collections support Reviewing contracts and ensuring billing terms, schedules, and documentation requirements are properly executed Setting up new projects in Acumatica, including contract values, budgets, cost codes, and billing schedules Maintaining accurate project financial records, budgets, cost tracking, and documentation within Acumatica Monitoring project costs, committed costs, and job profitability and proactively identifying discrepancies, billing issues, and financial risks Preparing and analyzing project financial reports, job cost reports, and WIP schedules Reconciling project billings, costs, retainage, and project balances to ensure accuracy and completeness Assisting with monthly and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting support Supporting cash flow management through timely invoicing, collections follow-up, and forecasting project billings and collections Managing change orders, project milestones, and closeout documentation so nothing slips through the cracks Partnering with project managers to review budgets, understand financial performance, and make informed decisions throughout the life of a project Developing and continuously improving processes, reporting, and internal controls that increase accuracy and efficiency You’ll thrive here if you have: 5+ years of construction accounting, project accounting, or construction billing experience Strong understanding of AIA billing, job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, and revenue recognition concepts Experience with account reconciliations, financial reporting, and analyzing project financial data Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems, preferably Acumatica Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems The ability to interpret contracts and understand the financial implications of project decisions A proactive mindset and the ability to anticipate needs and solve problems independently Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver consistently in a fast-paced environment A positive attitude, strong follow-through, and a desire to continuously learn and improve Benefits: $75,000-$90,000 salary, depending on experience 401(k) with company matching Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off Professional development and real opportunities for growth Ready to build something meaningful and grow while you do it?
