Key ResponsibilitiesTax Preparation & Compliance
Prepare and manage federal and state tax returns, including:
Gift Tax Returns (Form 709)
Fiduciary Income Tax Returns (Form 1041)
Final Individual Income Tax Returns (Form 1040)
Related state filings
Work closely with internal administrative support teams.
Provide proactive tax planning and consulting related to estate, gift, and trust matters.
Advise fiduciaries on post-mortem tax strategies and elections.
Analyze trust documents and provide guidance on tax implications of funding and distributions.
Prepare fiduciary accounting and beneficiary reporting.
Maintain accurate financial records and allocations between principal and income in accordance with governing documents and applicable statutes.
Serve as a point of contact for clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, and financial advisors.
Communicate complex tax concepts clearly and professionally.
Represent clients before tax authorities when required.
Research estate, trust, and gift tax matters.
Stay current with evolving tax laws and industry best practices.
Manage client onboarding, engagement documentation, billing, and collections.
Maintain organized client files and records.
Utilize tax preparation software and related technologies efficiently.
Active CPA or EA license.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in public accounting, banking, or law firm environments with direct experience in estate, trust, and gift tax compliance and planning.
Strong knowledge of federal estate, gift, and income tax preparation.
Understanding of fiduciary accounting principles and related statutes.
Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience working with high-net-worth clients and complex trust structures preferred.
Experience with fiduciary accounting software preferred.
Self-motivated and solution-oriented mindset.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Collaborative approach and willingness to help clients and team members.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines effectively.
