Japanese Translator/ Interpreter

Job Title

This position is a dual role involving both translation and interpretation tasks. The role offers an increased bill rate during interpretation duties.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in Japanese/English translation and vice versa.
• Excellent language skills in both Japanese and English.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective teamwork and adapt to the company's culture.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with translation software, such as TRADOS.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong planning and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
• Proven professionalism and judgment when interfacing with associates at all levels.
• Interpret spoken communication accurately and neutrally, supporting technical terminology related to R&D.
• Maintain confidentiality of all company R&D information.
• Prior work experience at client or in client's industry.

Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in automotive or technical R&D translation.
• Familiarity with the company's specific terminology and processes.
• Experience in consecutive/simultaneous interpretation in business settings.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Translate and proofread vehicle specification books related to R&D.
• Translate and proofread test procedure materials and various technical reports related to R&D.
• Collaborate with the Translation Group in R&D to enhance the translation job system.
• Support updating the Powertrain terminology of R&D.
• Facilitate meetings between Japanese and English speakers with consecutive/simultaneous interpretation.
• Assist during meetings, presentations, Q&A, and site visits, clarifying speaker intent when necessary without adding opinion.
