Patient Care Associate-PCA - Oncology (Part-Time)

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient. Position Details Patient Care Associate Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO Department: Oncology Progressive Status: Part‑Time Hours: Minimum 8 hours/week or 16 per pay period; 12‑hour shift (days or nights) Qualifications Experience: None required. If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175‑hour training program that meets state of practice Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. Must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position. Required Education: High school diploma or GED. Preferred Education: CNA/CPTC, enrollment in a healthcare career program, or current co‑worker of Mercy. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of required course within one month of hire; completion of PCA competencies within three months of hire. Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Minimum Physical Requirements: Push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Prolonged standing and walking each shift. Grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
