L&D Registered Nurse (RN)

An experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) is needed for a dynamic healthcare environment. The role involves caring for high-risk obstetric patients in a fast-paced setting. The RN will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care in labor and delivery, antepartum, and postpartum areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer nursing care to patients in high-risk labor and delivery situations.
• Provide support and education to patients and families during the perinatal period.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Perform assessments, develop care plans, and monitor patient progress.
• Participate in emergency interventions as required, including operating room assistance.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, with a focus on high-risk patients.
• Prior obstetric experience is required.
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
• Holds current certifications in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Fetal monitoring certification is required.

Unit Information

• The unit consists of 12 postpartum rooms, 4 swing/antepartum rooms, 5 labor rooms, 4 triage rooms, and 2 operating rooms.
• Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:3 in Labor and Delivery, 1:3 in antepartum care, and 1:6 in mother/baby couplets.
• Scrubs will be provided for the nursing staff.

Additional Information

• This position requires mandatory overtime as part of the unit staffing rotation.
• Staff may be floated or reassigned to different departments within clinical competence, not exceeding 30 miles from the original assignment.
