Scientist 1 - Assay R&D

Illumina is hiring a Scientist 1 to design and optimize next-generation sequencing assays, particularly in spatial transcriptomics. The role involves hands-on laboratory work, experimental troubleshooting, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to develop novel molecular biology methods.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments using biochemistry and molecular biology techniques
- Troubleshoot and optimize assay workflows to enhance performance metrics
- Develop novel spatial transcriptomics methods and solve technical challenges
- Communicate experimental findings and recommendations at team meetings
- Maintain detailed documentation of experiments and analysis
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field
- Laboratory experience with cell and molecular biology techniques including tissue culture
- Experience manipulating and analyzing nucleic acids
- Strong experimental design and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Experience with spatial assays preferred
Compensation: $62,900 - $94,300 base salary
