About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of medical-surgical experience required. PCU experience required as travelers will float across medical-surgical and PCU units. License: Must be licensed in the state. Certifications: BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 2 years of medical-surgical experience - PCU experience - Facility will not accept any license or background hits - 50-mile radius restriction Description: The position requires working in a medical-surgical unit during the night shift. Patient ratios are 1:5 to 1:6. First-time travelers are accepted. The facility requires staff to work weekdays, every other weekend, and holidays as needed. Proficient skills include administration of blood and blood products, anti-seizure medications, and management of asthma. Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care, and pediatric medication calculations is essential. Candidates should have skills in infection prevention and isolation precautions. Familiarity with telemetry monitoring, wound assessment, and management of central lines is preferred. The candidate should be comfortable floating to different units within the facility. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Patient age groups range from infants to geriatrics. Daily census in the unit is approximately 23. Diverse patient diagnoses will be encountered, including strokes and renal failure. The unit features specialized equipment and offers support services such as rapid response teams and social services. Candidates must be adaptable and able to work collaboratively with staff across various departments. The role may involve working holidays and weekends. Floating policies comply with current standards and will provide appropriate orientation to new units as needed.
