Responsible for assisting physicians/providers with patient care, rooming patients, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for appointment scheduling and chart management. Performs patient care responsibilities as assigned.Identifies self to patient/family and explains to patient/family the roles of each member of the care delivery team.2. Performs administrative responsibilities as assigned.Sends/receives patient medical records and abstracts new patient records into EPIC.3. Performs environmental responsibilities as assigned.Sets up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.4. Performs other related organizational duties as assigned.Maintains patient autonomy, confidentiality and dignity.5. May assist and/or perform chaperone duties for patient medical procedures as needed.QualificationsEDUCATIONHigh School diploma or equivalent required. Must meet one of the following requirements: graduation from an accredited medical assistant (MA) certificate program or Phlebotomy program, certification as a certified nursing assistant (CNA), emergency medical technician (EMT), or paramedic. Employees who join YNHHS through a merger or acquisition may satisfy educational requirements by demonstrating the appropriate combination of education, relevant experience, and current competencies.EXPERIENCEMinimum of one (1) year of experience as a medical assistant (MA), certified nursing assistant (CNA), emergency medical technician (EMT), ambulatory care associate (ACA), patient care associate/technician (PCA/PCT), paramedic, or phlebotomist required. New graduates from an accredited medical assistant certificate program, with less than one (1) year of experience, will be considered.LICENSURECertification/registration (CCMA/CMA/AAMA/RMA) preferred. Certification/registration may be accepted in lieu of graduation from an accredited MA school. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.SPECIAL SKILLSExcellent, organizational, communication, customer service and teamwork skills required. Ability to multi-task is essential. EMR experience preferred and working knowledge of Microsoft office applications required. CPR certification preferred. Bilingual preferred but not required.
