Surgical Technician

Job Responsibilities Assist with surgical procedures, providing the surgeon with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment. Prepare the operating room for surgery, including checking the case cart and preference sheet, and aseptically opening instruments and supplies. Set up and maintain a sterile field, and assist during the case by providing the surgical team with instruments, sponges, sutures, and medications. Demonstrate surgical asepsis by maintaining a sterile field and working efficiently within it. Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts. Perform duties under the direction of the registered nurse circulator and communicate pertinent information for continuity of patient care. Assist in room clean‑up, remove soiled case cart, supplies, and trash after the surgical case. Function in all surgical specialties with minimal assistance. Transport laboratory, surgical instruments, and supplies as needed or requested. Serve as a surgical service assistant if required. Act as a patient advocate by notifying the health care team of any observed changes in patient condition. Requirements Associate degree in Surgical Technology, specialized training in the Armed Forces, or a minimum of 2 years experience as a Surgical Technician.
