Our mission is to support and advocate for children of incarcerated parents while speaking out against the root causes that affect the communities we serve—including systemic racism, poverty, and bias within our nation’s criminal justice system.CPNYC has developed an innovative model—the only one of its kind in New York City—that co-locates a licensed therapist at two after-school sites in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, and the South Bronx to provide on-site mental health support. In addition, CPNYC offers an array of youth development programs and services tailored to each child’s strengths and challenges, creating an uplifting environment that builds resilience.Position Overview: CPNYC seeks a Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for the organization’s health services under Article 29 regulations. The Medical Director ensures services meet New York State Department of Health requirements, professional standards of care, and CPNYC policies.In collaboration with the Executive Director and Vice President of Mental Health, the Medical Director works with an interdisciplinary team to support high-quality, ethical, and compliant care and to guide the development and integration of clinical services.Key Responsibilities:Medical OversightDevelop, review and maintain medical policies and procedureEnsure compliance with NYS Department of Health regulationsOversee clinical documentation standards and quality of careReview and approve clinical protocolsClinical GovernanceProvide consultation to clinical staff on medical and behavioral health mattersSupport interdisciplinary care planning as neededEnsure safe coordination between medical and behavioral health servicesQuality AssuranceProvide consultation to clinical staff on medical and behavioral health mattersSupport interdisciplinary care planning as neededEnsure safe coordination between medical and behavioral health servicesRegulatory ComplianceEnsure adherence to state and federal healthcare regulationsSupports audits, site visits, and regulatory inspectionsMaintain appropriate clinical supervision and oversight structureProgram DevelopmentAdvise on development and expansion of clinical servicesSupport implementation of evidence –based models of careTime CommitmentTypical responsibilities includeMonthly clinical oversight meetingsChart and documentation reviewPolicy review and approvalParticipation in quality assurance activitiesAvailability for consultationRequired Knowledge, Skill and ExperienceLicensed physician (MD or DO) in good standing in New York StateCurrent NYS registration to practice medicineExperience in behavioral health, primary care, or integrated care settingsAcceptable Physician SpecialtiesPhysicians with training appropriate for outpatient clinical oversight may include:PsychiatryFamily MedicineInternal MedicinePreventative MedicinePediatrics (for youth serving programs)Medicine – Psychiatry (dual board)Addiction MedicinePublic Health – focused PhysiciansA psychiatrist is not required unless psychiatric diagnosis or medication is requiredNon-Eligibility for Medical Role as per regulatory requirements:Psychologists (PhD/PsyD)Nurse Practitioners (including PMHNP)Physician AssistantsDentistsSocial WorkersLicensed Mental Health CounselorsThese professionals may serve in other clinical leadership rolesCOMPENSATION:Commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. The compensation range is between $250 -$300 per dependent on scope of responsibilities and program scope.
