Assistant Controller

Century Group is in search of an experienced Assistant Controller to join a team in the Denver area. Qualified candidates with 7+ years of experience and a CPA are encouraged to apply. Local candidates only. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary $140,000 to $150,000 per year.

Hybrid Schedule

• Assist in leading and guiding the accounting team by helping with task assignments, providing training, and conducting performance reviews.
  
  
• Contribute to the monitoring and management of accounting systems and internal controls.
  
  
• Supervise the entire month-end close process, ensuring that journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports are completed with accuracy and timeliness, in line with established deadlines.
  
  
• Work closely with the Corporate Controller and Accounting Manager to develop and maintain a consistent monthly closing schedule.
  
  
• Help generate and distribute monthly financial statements, key performance indicators (KPIs), and other relevant financial documents.
  
  
• Ensure the timely and accurate reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including handling bank reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
  
  
• Support the planning and execution of the annual financial audit by preparing comprehensive schedules for the auditors.
  
  
• Assist with the preparation and management of property tax filings and sales and use tax returns.
  
  
• Provide support in responding to inquiries from other departments and supplying necessary financial data.
  
  
• Collaborate with the Controller to help Business Unit Presidents understand their financial standing.
  
  
• Assist in the development and oversight of the Annual Budget process.
  
  
• Support cash flow management and accounts payable activities as required.
  
  

• Bachelors or Masters in Accounting
  
  
• 7+ years in accounting or finance, managing a team
  
  
• CPA Required
  
  
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel, Vista ERP (preferred) and ERP system skills
  
  
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills
  
  
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  
  
• Able to communicate with professionals at all levels
  
  
• Able to work independently and take initiative
  
  
• Able to adapt to changing priorities
