Service Technician

The Service Technician services a territory spanning from Charleston, SC to Myrtle Beach, SC, focusing on installing, maintaining, and repairing beverage and restaurant equipment. This role operates with minimal supervision, requires a strong commitment to high-quality service, and involves regular interaction with customers, supervisors, and team members. The technician attends weekly meetings at the Service Center and uses company-provided tools, vehicle, and technology to deliver reliable and efficient service.

Responsibilities

• Receive dispatched service calls as assigned and respond promptly in line with the estimated time of arrival (ETA).
• Perform preventative maintenance on beverage and restaurant equipment, ensuring proper operation and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose service problems on equipment such as carbonated and non-carbonated dispensers, fountain beverage equipment, ice makers, and juice dispensers.
• Complete all necessary repairs and verify that equipment operates safely and effectively after service.
• Check product quality, including verifying syrup levels, changing out flavors, and cleaning around machines to maintain cleanliness and performance.
• Maintain inventory and perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment, including parts, tools, and the company vehicle.
• Review service orders and completed work with the supervisor and provide clear updates on service activities.
• Keep the supervisor informed of customer concerns, ongoing needs, and opportunities to recommend additional services or products.
• Document all work performed accurately and close out all service activities upon completion.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and co-workers to ensure understanding of work performed and any follow-up needs.
• Perform general warehouse duties as assigned, including cleaning, organizing, rotating product, and assisting with shipping and receiving of equipment, parts, and product.
• Adhere to all company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures while performing field and warehouse duties.
• Participate in weekly meetings at the Service Center and contribute to continuous improvement of service processes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to support service operations.

Essential Skills

• EPA Universal Certification.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Hands-on experience or training in refrigeration systems.
• HVAC knowledge and skills applicable to beverage and restaurant equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues.
• Basic wiring skills and ability to read or follow wiring-related instructions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a field-based role.
• Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, supervisors, and co-workers.
• Ability to maintain accurate service documentation and follow work orders.
• Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and working in and around equipment and warehouse environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Completion of a technical or trade school program in refrigeration, HVAC, electronics, or a related field.
• Willingness to travel regularly within a territory from Charleston, SC to Myrtle Beach, SC.
• Comfort working in a field-based role that includes both on-site service and warehouse tasks.
• Interest in ongoing technical training, both online and in the field.
• Openness to candidates directly out of trade school who hold an EPA certification.
• Strong organizational skills for managing parts, tools, and service schedules.
• Customer-focused mindset with an interest in identifying and communicating additional service opportunities.

Work Environment

This is a field-based traveling role covering a territory from Charleston, SC to Myrtle Beach, SC, with a preference for candidates living in or near the Georgetown, SC area. The Service Technician spends most of the time on the road visiting customer locations, working on beverage and restaurant equipment, and occasionally performing duties in a Service Center or warehouse environment. The role involves working with a company-provided vehicle, uniforms, tools, cell phone, and tablet, as well as handling equipment, parts, and products in various customer and warehouse settings. The workday includes travel, on-site service, and weekly in-person meetings at the Service Center, with an expectation of maintaining a professional appearance in company-provided attire and following all safety and operational procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charleston, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
