Job Description

The OR Nurse will perform the perioperative nursing role, including the preoperative assessment of patients, nursing care plan formulation, operative care plan implementation, and postoperative evaluation of patient outcomes. This position also involves evaluating the effectiveness and appropriateness of the nursing care provided and documenting such evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the setup and performance of surgical cases by assembling equipment and supplies according to sterile technique.
• Prepares patients for surgery, including positioning, preparing operative sites, and confirming procedures and sites.
• Performs surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments, documenting nursing care on legal records.
• Assists in the clean-up of the operating room following surgery, ensuring proper disposal of used supplies and sharps.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN License.
• One (1) year of surgical experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
