The Operating Room Nurse plays a vital role in delivering optimal care to patients throughout their surgical experience. This position requires collaboration with all members of the healthcare team while maintaining a supportive and caring environment. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patient needs, mitigating risks, and ensuring the safety and efficacy of operations. Responsibilities Evaluate and complete patient needs assessments to provide comprehensive care before, during, and after surgical procedures. Maintain a friendly and positive attitude towards patients, physicians, and staff. Ensures proper availability and functioning of supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures. Assist in patient education across all phases of their surgical experience. Supervise nursing activities and guide other staff members during their orientation process. Adhere to sterile techniques while assisting with surgical procedures and maintain disinfection of equipment. Perform safety checks on critical equipment, including Defibrillators. Accountable for safe and accurate drug administration and IV procedures. Participate in quality studies within the organization and contribute to performance improvement initiatives. Remain prepared for emergency situations and execute emergency procedures as necessary. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution (Bachelor’s preferred) with at least one year of surgical experience. Current BLS certification. Current ACLS/PALS certification (to be obtained within six months of hire). CNOR certification and AORN professional affiliation preferred.
