Position: Director of Emergency Services Location: Salem, VA Job Id: 442 # of Openings: 1 Director of Emergency Services Department: Emergency Services Location: Salem, VA Job Summary: The Director of the Emergency Services Department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the provision of consistent, high-quality patient care within the Emergency Department (ED). This position oversees service delivery, growth initiatives, personnel management, and resource allocation to uphold the hospital's commitment to exceptional emergency care. Job Responsibilities: Identify and address real or potential issues affecting ED service delivery, implementing effective solutions with clear communication and follow-through. Actively participate in various committees at the service, departmental, and hospital-wide levels, ensuring ongoing communication and representation. Champion initiatives to enhance the patient experience within the ED. Provide constructive feedback, facilitate individual development plans, and document job performance for immediate subordinates. Adhere to all Human Resource policies and effectively communicate relevant information to staff. Foster evidence-based employee engagement practices and cultivate strong relationships to achieve organizational goals. Engage in employee and patient rounding, identifying and mentoring potential future leaders. Ensure compliance with standards of emergency department care and develop processes for consistent monitoring and enforcement. Develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing emergency services programs aligned with the hospital's mission. Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies related to patient services, safety, and environmental standards. Oversee a Performance Improvement (PI) program to monitor and evaluate critical aspects of care. Ensure operational excellence within the department, delivering quality services in accordance with policies, procedures, and professional standards. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required. Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency services is required. Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in an Emergency Room (ER) unit is required. Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of practice. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
