RN Float Pool Nurse

Job Summary:

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join the Float Pool on the night shift at a hospital setting. The RN will provide skilled nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, Orthopedics/Neurology, and Sub-Acute. Responsibilities include patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. The role requires critical thinking, adherence to nursing standards, and flexibility to float as needed. A minimum of two years of nursing experience and current licensure are required. Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process to assess and care for patients across multiple inpatient units.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques, policies, and state laws.
• Document patient care and clinical information in accordance with standards of care.
• Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient care plans including patient and family education.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support patient care and safety.
• Participate in unit or department performance improvement and shared governance activities.
• Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments as needed.
• Apply critical thinking to ensure patient safety and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Float between various inpatient units such as Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, Orthopedics/Neurology, and Sub-Acute.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Wisconsin.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in hospital or related settings.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Proven skills in clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working across multiple inpatient units including Medical, Surgical, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Neurology, and Sub-Acute care.
• Previous float pool or multi-unit nursing experience.

Special Considerations:

• Position requires floating to multiple inpatient units as assigned.
• Night shift work from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Work every other weekend and holidays.
• Must comply with hospital policies and state nursing practice act.

Scheduling:

• Night shift schedule: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts required.
• Shift assignments may vary based on unit needs and float pool requirements.
