Clinical Nurse Coordinator Pulmonary

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator – Pulmonary to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide advanced, patient-centered nursing care to individuals with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions while coordinating care across the continuum. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator – Pulmonary serves as a clinical resource and leader for the pulmonary unit, working collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator – Pulmonary is responsible for coordinating and prioritizing daily patient care activities, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions for patients with conditions such as COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-surgical respiratory needs. You will support and guide bedside nurses, assist with complex clinical decision-making, and help manage patient flow, admissions, discharges, and transfers to promote efficient operations while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

This position plays a key role in patient and family education, ensuring that patients understand their diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, respiratory therapies, and self-management strategies. You will collaborate closely with respiratory therapy to optimize oxygen therapy, ventilator care, and pulmonary rehabilitation plans, and you will participate in multidisciplinary rounds to coordinate individualized care plans and discharge planning. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator – Pulmonary also contributes to quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring clinical outcomes, adherence to evidence-based protocols, and implementation of best practices in pulmonary and respiratory care.

The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse with strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication, and the ability to effectively coordinate care in a fast-paced acute-care environment. You should be comfortable working with electronic medical records, interpreting diagnostic results (such as arterial blood gases, chest imaging, and pulmonary function tests), and escalating concerns appropriately. You will be expected to collaborate closely with providers to implement care plans, respond promptly to changes in patient condition, and support initiatives aimed at reducing readmissions and improving patient satisfaction for those with pulmonary diagnoses.
