The Clinical Nurse Coordinator Peds B Psych at Mission Health is a leadership-focused Registered Nurse role responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for pediatric behavioral health patients. Based within the Healthcare & Medical Services department, this position supports a specialized inpatient pediatric behavioral/psych unit, ensuring safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care for children and adolescents with a wide range of behavioral and psychiatric needs.

Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, pediatricians, therapists, social workers, and support staff, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator provides direct clinical care while overseeing daily patient flow, unit operations, and nursing practice standards. This nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing care for pediatric patients, incorporating family-centered approaches, therapeutic communication, and age-appropriate behavioral interventions. The role includes medication administration and monitoring, safety assessments, crisis recognition and de-escalation, and thorough documentation of clinical observations, treatment responses, and care plans.

In addition to bedside responsibilities, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator serves as a clinical resource and role model for staff nurses, nursing assistants, and other team members. This position helps coordinate staffing assignments, prioritizes patient care needs, supports patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and participates in daily huddles and treatment team meetings to optimize care coordination. The coordinator helps promote adherence to regulatory, safety, and infection prevention standards and supports quality improvement initiatives focused on patient outcomes, patient and family experience, and unit efficiency.

The coordinator also collaborates with case management and social work to support safe discharge planning and continuity of care.

This position requires a Registered Nurse with pediatric and/or psychiatric nursing experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, emotionally demanding environment. The nurse must be adept at recognizing changes in patient behavior or condition, intervening promptly, and coordinating appropriate escalation of care.
