An established New Jersey-based commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Superintendent to lead an upcoming commercial construction project in Manhasset, Long Island.

This is a project-specific contract position for a strong local construction professional who can combine hands-on field leadership with key project-management responsibilities. The selected candidate will serve as the contractor's primary on-site representative and take ownership of daily construction activities while coordinating closely with company leadership.

This is not a desk-based Project Manager position. We are seeking someone who can independently drive the field, manage subcontractors and schedule, solve problems as they arise, and maintain the documentation and coordination necessary to keep the project moving.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary day-to-day contractor representative on site.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors for schedule, manpower, sequencing, quality, scope compliance and safety.
• Maintain the project schedule and prepare detailed two-week look-ahead schedules.
• Proactively identify constructability issues, scope conflicts, missing information and sequencing risks before they impact the project.
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, inspections, deliveries and other project documentation.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photographs and project records through Procore.
• Participate in Owner/Architect/Contractor and project coordination meetings as required.
• Review drawings, specifications, bulletins, RFIs, approved submittals and other current construction documents.
• Maintain quality control and drive subcontractor, architect and owner punch-list completion.
• Coordinate municipal and third-party inspections and project closeout through final approvals and Certificate of Occupancy.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe project site and enforce applicable OSHA and project safety requirements.
• Communicate schedule concerns, cost exposure, changes and project risks promptly to company leadership.
• Coordinate delivery of materials and equipment.
• Monitor field activities for work outside the contracted scope and immediately notify company project leadership of potential scope changes before additional work proceeds.
• Coordinate shutdowns, access, deliveries, staging and site logistics.
• Assist with project closeout, including punch-list completion, final inspections, testing, owner/architect walkthroughs and required field closeout items.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial construction experience preferred, with demonstrated experience independently running projects from mobilization through closeout.
• Strong field leadership and subcontractor-management skills.
• Working knowledge of commercial interiors, building systems and trade coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, MEP and other construction documents.
• Strong scheduling, sequencing, documentation and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfortable handling both field operations and day-to-day project-management functions.
• Strong Procore experience preferred.
• OSHA 30 required.
• Daycare/educational construction experience preferred.
• Long Island construction experience and familiarity with local subcontractors, inspectors and construction practices strongly preferred.
• Must be able to maintain reliable full-time daily presence at the project site in Manhasset.

Compensation & Engagement

$3,250–$3,750 per week, commensurate with experience and demonstrated ability to manage both field operations and project coordination.

This is a project-based contract position through project completion. Weekly compensation is intended to include normal local vehicle and travel expenses. Full-time on-site presence in Manhasset is required.
