You prepare the close, drive reconciliations, keep the checklist moving, and turn processor, bank/FBO, and payroll activity into clean books so the Controller can review, own judgments, and deliver decision-grade financials.This is an execution role. Most of your time is in the work: recs, journals, schedules, payroll accounting support, and audit PBC packages. You are not the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for the accounting function; the Controller is. Attitude, ownership, and reliability matter as much as pedigree.You will work closely with the Controller, Legal, Compliance, Operations, processors/sponsor banks, and external CPAs and auditors.What You OwnClose Execution & Financial StatementsDrive monthly, quarterly, and annual close execution across entities under the Controllers calendarPrepare reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and reserves for Controller reviewAssemble close packages (P&L, BS, cash flow support, variance notes)Maintain balance sheet integrity and age open recon items until clearedHelp improve close checklists, documentation, and turnaround timeProcessor, Bank & FBO ReconciliationOwn day-to-day settlement and clearing reconciliationsInvestigate and document variances (fee mismatches, ACH returns, in-transit, misposted wires)Partner with processors, sponsor banks, and Engineering/Customer Experience when data feeds or portal access block reconKeep clearing accounts explained and trending toward clean month-end balancesPayroll Accounting SupportSupport payroll accounting entries, reconciliations, and variance analysisHelp resolve payroll vendor issues (funding, tax filings, speed changes) with the Controller and People OpsEnsure payroll-related balance sheet accounts are reconciled each periodAudit PBC Prep & Controls SupportPrepare PBC schedules and documentation for audits and reviewsMaintain evidence for accounting-related internal controlsSupport SOC 2 / PCI evidence requests that touch accounting systems and recsMulti-Entity SupportExecute intercompany entries, allocations, and eliminations under Controller guidanceAttribute payroll, expenses, and revenue across entities correctlySupport consolidated reporting packagesSystems & ProcessOperate and help improve Rillet ERP (or equivalent) workflows and documentationDocument SOPs for recs, close tasks, and processor feedsFlag control gaps early; propose fixesWho You AreRequiredStrong US GAAP fundamentals36+ years progressive accounting experienceExperience owning or co-owning monthly close tasks and balance sheet reconciliationsComfortable with high-volume transaction environments payments / payment processor background preferred (payfac, acquiring, sponsor bank, gateway, or similar)Evidence you can chase exceptions to root cause (bank, processor, payroll) without hand-holdingClear written documentation; calm under deadlineAttitude and ownership over title-chasingPreferredCPA (a plus, not required)Multi-entity and intercompany accountingPrior work with external auditorsRillet, NetSuite, or similar modern ERP exposureHow We WorkWe are player-coaches.
