Scholar Rock works every day to create new possibilities for patients through its highly innovative anti-myostatin program, including opportunities in additional rare neuromuscular diseases.The Senior Accountant will play an important role in supporting the monthly close process, maintaining accurate financial records, and helping ensure the Company's accounting processes are timely, well controlled, and scalable as the business grows. This role will be responsible for preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across key areas such as cash, prepaid expenses and accruals, G&A activity, fixed assets, and other general ledger accounts.The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with members of the Accounting team to support internal reporting, external reporting, audit requests, SOX compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This position is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, pro-active, and excited to gain exposure to a broad range of accounting areas within a growing public biotechnology company. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, able to manage multiple priorities, and willing to take initiative. This role requires strong Excel skills, clear communication, attention to detail, and a team-oriented approach.Position ResponsibilitiesPrepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations/supporting schedules across cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, G&A activity, and other GL accountsPerform account analyses, investigate variances, and support timely, accurate completion of monthly/quarterly close activitiesPrepare schedules and documentation supporting internal reporting, external reporting, audits, quarterly reviews, and SOX compliancePartner with cross-functional teams to gather information needed for accounting entries and analysisSupport efforts to continuously drive cross-functional improvements, as well as create process documentationExecute special ad-hoc projects as requested to support the greater Finance teamCandidate RequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field3-5 years of relevant accounting experienceCPA or equivalent is preferredLife sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industry experience preferredPublic company experience preferredNetSuite and/or SAP experience preferredExperience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysisExposure to SOX controls and audit support preferredStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on open itemsStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members and cross-functional partnersStrong Excel and computer skills requiredStrong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, well-supported workCurious, proactive, and motivated to learn and grow within a developing accounting organizationScholar Rock is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
