Kindergarten Teaching Assistant

To support a Kindergarten classroom by assisting the teacher with classroom responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred. 3 to 5 years of experience working with young children
• Must have experience and demonstrated ability to support young children
• Must have experience and demonstrated ability to implement teacher-developed instructional modifications and activities
• Must be able to coordinate with and work as a member of a team that includes special and general educators, other building staff, related service personnel, clinicians and parents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists with classroom management
• Establishes emotionally supportive rapport with students
• Ensures information is shared between teachers when assistant is primary support person or other organizational meetings, as well as professional development as determined by principal
• Assists Classroom teacher with implementation of curriculum.
• Performs other related duties as delineated by teacher or other supervisor
• May supervise drop off, dismissal, lunch and recess.

Terms of Employment: 183-day, full time position. 35 hours per week (average of 7 hours per day). The school day begins for students at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:30 PM. Specific schedule to be determined by the Building Principal.

Reports To: Building Principal/Assistant Principal

Salary: Based on AEA Unit D Contract. 7 hours per day, 183 work days. This position is eligible for benefits and is required to enroll in the Town of Arlington Retirement System.
