Title: Accountant

Location: Vienna, VA – Hybrid (Monday–Thursday in office, 1 remote day per week)

Assignment Type: Temp-to-Permanent

Compensation: $35/hour – $40/hour (salary of $80,000 - $85,000 on conversion)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join their Finance team in a hands-on, individual contributor role. This position will be responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, with a strong focus on general ledger activities, accounts payable, and month-end close.

The ideal candidate will have experience within a government contracting environment and a strong understanding of FAR, CAS, and GAAP requirements. This individual will work closely with the Controller and other members of the Finance team, taking ownership of their responsibilities and working independently with limited direction.

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities, including invoice review, coding, and processing.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accounting transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Play a key role in the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Review and analyze account balances and financial activity to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Apply FAR, CAS, and GAAP requirements to accounting activities and maintain accurate, compliant financial records.
• Support financial reporting, audit preparation, and other accounting functions as needed.
• Partner with the Controller and Finance team on various accounting initiatives and projects.
• Maintain organized documentation and ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Support the Finance team across multiple accounting functions and priorities.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience.
• Government contracting accounting experience required.
• Knowledge of FAR, CAS, and GAAP requirements.
• Experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint preferred;
  Unanet and QuickBooks experience are a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Finance leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred;
  equivalent accounting experience will be considered.
• Comfortable working in an on-site, open-office environment Monday through Thursday.
