Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Nashville, Tennessee.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: ASAP\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: May 22, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position on a fast-paced post-op surgical unit requiring at least 1 year of recent specialty experience and an active TN or compact RN license.Details\n \n Work on a 36-bed post-op surgical unit (9 Tower Surgical) within a hospital setting\n Care for patients following post op surgical procedures including vascular, bariatric, urology, general surgery, and colorectal surgery\n Patient ratio of 1:5\n Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM\n 13-week assignment length\n Uses bariatric fitted ADLs, wound vacs, drains, and lift equipment\n Documents in Meditech EMR\n Floating required to other Medical-Surgical units\n Requirements\n \n Active RN license (TN or compact) currently in hand\n Current BLS certification required\n Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required\n At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg specialty required\n Experience with wound care including packing, dressing changes, and wound vac maintenance\n Experience with Foley catheter care and continuous bladder irrigation\n Experience with ostomy appliance changes and maintenance\n Experience with nasogastric tube insertion and suction\n Experience with TPN administration\n Experience with blood administration\n Experience with central line care and dressing changes\n No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more in the past 12 months\n US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)\n One professional reference required for consideration\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced unit with short lengths of stay, requiring strong time management and teamwork skills\n Participate in bedside shift report\n Maintain post op surgical procedure sites\n Team includes 8 bedside RNs per shift along with a Charge RN, Unit Secretary, Manager, and CNC on day shift\n Ideal candidates are outgoing and customer service oriented\n Scrub colors required: Black, Grey, White, or Royal Blue\n Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for consideration; local candidates will not be considered\n Maintain prompt attendance and professional appearance\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-702670.
