Travel LPN - LPN

American Traveler is hiring a Step-Down LPN with SD/PCU experience, vent experience, and Epic EMR proficiency for a night shift assignment.

Job Details

• Work in a Step-Down/PCU unit within a hospital setting,
• Patient population includes COPD, CHF, pneumonia, flu, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-COVID cases,
• Care for patients on telemetry, drips (insulin, heparin, Cardizem), and ventilators with support from Respiratory Therapy,
• Unit manages trach, vent, and BiPAP patients but does not include orally intubated patients,
• May utilize a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs collaborate to care for a group of patients,
• Targeted patient ratios are 1:4, with potential ratios up to 1:5-6,
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-07:30,
• 36 or 48-hour weekly contract options available,
• Requires availability every other weekend and holiday,
• May be required to float within the hospital or to nearby Premier Health facilities, including locations up to 15 miles from main campus,
• EPIC EMR experience required,

Job Requirements

• Active LPN/LVN license required if applicable,
• BLS and ACLS certification required, with ability to read and interpret EKG strips,
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience required, preferably including Level I or II trauma exposure,
• SD or PCU experience with documented 1:5 ratio required; ICU experience does not qualify,
• Ventilator experience required,
• Epic charting system experience required,
• Must pass an online EKG/tele competency assessment prior to starting the assignment,
• N95 fit testing required prior to working on the HRRU unit unless PAPR is provided,
• Travel healthcare experience preferred,
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include patient admission/discharge, monitoring intake and output, vital sign monitoring, wound care, and medication administration,
• Provide respiratory care including tracheostomy management, oxygen administration, and BiPAP/CPAP support,
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response as needed,
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and maintaining IV pumps,
• Navy blue scrubs required,
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after offer,
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted,
• Previous Premier Health perm/PRN staff or agency travelers not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler,
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience level
