Senior HR Business Partner (Contract)

Location: Columbia, MD (Hybrid: 2 days onsite, 3 days remote)

Pay Rate: $40-$55/hour, depending on experience

Duration: Contract Leave Coverage Assignment

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join their team on a contract basis to provide coverage during an employee leave of absence. This role will serve as a strategic partner to business leaders while also supporting day-to-day HR operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong employee relations experience, business partnership expertise, and the ability to navigate complex HR matters in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities are aligned with strategic HRBP functions including workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, and leadership coaching.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to provide strategic HR guidance and support organizational objectives.
• Advise managers on employee relations matters, performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution.
• Support workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
• Guide leaders through organizational changes, restructuring efforts, and change management initiatives.
• Partner with leadership on employee engagement, retention, and culture-building efforts.
• Conduct employee investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions while ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws.
• Analyze workforce trends and HR metrics to identify risks and recommend solutions.
• Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence, including Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, and Learning & Development teams.
• Provide guidance on compensation planning, organizational design, and performance review processes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
• Support special HR projects and initiatives as needed during the leave coverage period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience as an HR Business Partner supporting multiple business units.
• Strong background in employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational development.
• Experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing business decisions.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication, consulting, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
• Experience working in a hybrid and fast-paced environment preferred. Qualifications reflect common Senior HRBP expectations, including strategic partnership with leaders and expertise in workforce planning and organizational change.
