Construction Manager II

Overview This opportunity entails being responsible for coordination and monitoring of overall field construction administration activities and/or management engineering services on multiple projects of a diverse nature in accordance with design specifications to assure that construction projects are completed in compliance with the drawings and specifications, within budget, and on schedule. Typical projects are $10M or greater in construction value and the role is key in mega project pursuits. Responsibilities Develop project scope and fee quotation, assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts. Coordinate project activities, establish priorities, and staff jobs. Prepare summary inspection reports of daily activities. Monitor contractor progress, compare with schedule, resolve technical field issues, and coordinate with architects and engineers for timely responses to RFI. Oversee project controls, including checking contractor controls, coordinating schedules, and reviewing submittals for conformance to plans and specifications. Develop strategies with contractors to create submittal packages that meet schedule requirements. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Lead the development and execution of the project management plan, supervise and mentor the team. Identify and resolve non‑compliant work, provide interpretation and enforcement of contract plans and specifications. Confirm change order requests, develop estimates, negotiate costs, and write change orders. Provide cost control and quality control within discipline. Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist in business development and relationship building for mini‑mega and mega projects. Prepare proposal and presentation materials, lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic projects. May be responsible for recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of construction staff, including performance reviews and succession planning. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field. 10 years of relevant experience, or 14 years of experience in lieu of the degree. Preferred Qualifications 18 years of relevant experience (20 years in lieu of the degree). Professional Engineer (PE), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or NICET LevelIII.
