AccountantThe Accountant prepares, analyzes and reviews financial statements using accounting principles in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and enterprise allocation methods.RequirementsEDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. If degree is in Finance, successful completion of Intermediate Accounting I & II required.LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGEMinimum three (3) years' accounting experience. OR applicable Masters in related field with minimum one (1) years' experience.ESSENTIAL ABILITIESOrganizationalDetail OrientedAbility to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Skills• Analytical Decision Making • Analytical Problem Solving • Applied Mathematics • Collaborative Communications • Critical Thinking • Cross-Functional Planning • Data Analysis • Data Management • Deductive Reasoning • Document Recording • Information Ordering • Interpersonal Relationship Management • Mathematics • Microsoft Excel • Microsoft Office • Microsoft PowerPoint • Object Recognition • Oral Communications • Performing Administrative Activities • Researching • Sound Judgment • Time Management • Written CommunicationResponsibilities• Analyzes and reviews financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. • Assists in special projects, as directed. • Assists with financial reporting audits, working with the internal audits, Arkansas Insurance Department, independent auditors, and/or Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. • Performs advanced accounting functions, including but not limited to preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, accounting analysis and reconciliation. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Prepares supporting financial data as required. • Reconciles, confirms and maintains general ledger accounts. • Reviews the work of peers providing coaching and mentoring to less experienced accountants.Security RequirementsThis position is identified as level three (3).
