Sr. Clinical Research Engineer

Intuitive Surgical seeks a Senior Clinical Research Engineer to lead the design and development of new robotic surgical product concepts from inception through commercial launch. The role requires deep clinical and technical expertise to guide feasibility studies, manage product requirements, conduct pre-clinical evaluations, and collaborate across engineering, regulatory, and clinical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of new product concepts prior to commercial launch using clinical and technical expertise
• Conduct pre-clinical experimental strategies and clinical feasibility studies to evaluate device performance, safety, and usability
• Collect and analyze clinical insights to inform product requirements and drive technology advancement
• Collaborate with physicians, engineers, and key opinion leaders to define clinical performance goals and translate user needs into designs
• Support regulatory documentation, clinical submissions, and intellectual property development for novel applications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
• 8+ years of clinical engineering or medical device product development experience
• Fluent in medical procedure terminology and human anatomy
• Experience in operating room or interventional suite environments
• Knowledge of complex robotic systems and software algorithms
• Product development and Design Controls experience
• Proven collaboration skills across multiple disciplines
