Clean Harbors – Lead Diesel Mechanic – Clute, TX Clean Harbors is looking for a Lead Diesel Mechanic to join its safety‑conscious team. The Lead Diesel Mechanic oversees the day‑to‑day operations of the shop, supervises all maintenance work, ensures the fleet is DOT compliant, and maintains all service and parts records. Responsibilities Ensure health and safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe‑work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times. Perform preventative maintenance, conduct inspections, troubleshoot, diagnose failures and deficiencies and perform necessary corrections, including off‑site road repairs and service calls. Complete daily checklists required for proper operation of each unit. Assure unit has daily maintenance duties performed and communicate any problems or issues immediately upon discovery. Complete and submit all associated paperwork required for tracking preventive‑maintenance schedules. Conduct safety checks and annual vehicle inspections in accordance with provincial and federal laws. Ensure equipment is properly parked in compliance with facility permits and DOT requirements. Ensure work meets all applicable health‑and‑safety standard operating procedures. Maintain a clean work environment. Perform other assignments as assigned by management. Understand Clean Compliance standards. Qualifications 5–7 years of diesel engine experience. 1+ years DOT inspection experience. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to work in a team environment. Proficiency in electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, and engines. Demonstrated proficiency in diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of heavy‑duty forklifts, roll‑off trucks, forklifts, pick‑up trucks, box trucks, tractors, and tankers. Proficiency in tooling and equipment diagnostic, repair, and maintenance. Ability to pass a background, drug, and physical test upon hire. Clean Harbors is an equal opportunity employer.
