Nurse Practitioner (NP) Primary Care OpportunityAn outpatient primary care practice caring for patients across the lifespan. The collaborative enhanced care team (ECT) model offers strong clinical and operational support. Average patient volume is 18 patients per day. They provide direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice.Essential functions of the role include assessing the physical and mental condition of patients, ordering and interpreting laboratory and other diagnostic tests, prescribing medical drug therapies or other treatments, recommending interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks, formulating and implementing comprehensive patient treatment plans, counseling patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion, maintaining appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes, providing consultation level services for conditions/problems related to the Provider's specialty and training, performing invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and knowledge of the provider as delegated by supervising Physician, and providing care to patients in a team-based model focusing on acute and chronic illness management and population health.Key success factors include knowledge of information and techniques to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities, knowledge of practices, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills, skill in the use of computers and related software applications, ability to develop and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans, ability to counsel patients concerning medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification, ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests, Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege from a Nurse Licensure Compact state for RNs and LVNs, and Texas APRN, current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas, Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire or transfer, and National Nurse Practitioner certification in area of specialty.
