About the Role ServiceLink is seeking a highly motivated Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to help modernize and scale our enterprise analytics and reporting platform using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. This role combines business intelligence, data modeling, dashboard development, reporting modernization, and close collaboration with Data Engineering teams. You will work across the analytics lifecycle, from understanding business requirements and legacy reporting logic to developing modern semantic models, consolidated dashboards, and trusted business metrics. A key focus of this role will be supporting the migration and consolidation of SSRS reports into Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. Success will require understanding existing report logic, partnering with stakeholders to rationalize reporting needs, and designing scalable semantic models that enable reusable, governed, and self-service analytics. The ideal candidate is a strong Power BI developer with hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience who understands that sustainable reporting starts with well-designed data models and analytics-ready datasets. They know when business logic belongs in the data platform, semantic model, or reporting layer and are committed to creating scalable solutions rather than relying on increasingly complex DAX calculations. Key Responsibilities Reporting Modernization & SSRS Migration Analyze and document existing SSRS reports, reporting logic, data dependencies, calculations, and business rules. Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting usage patterns and identify opportunities for simplification and consolidation. Support migration of legacy SSRS reporting solutions into Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. Consolidate multiple legacy reports into streamlined dashboards, scorecards, and self-service reporting experiences. Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to build analytics-ready datasets that support reporting modernization initiatives. Help establish reusable semantic models that reduce duplicated reporting logic and promote metric consistency. Identify and eliminate redundant reports while improving reporting usability and maintainability. Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports used across the organization. Build reusable Power BI semantic models, datasets, KPIs, and standardized business metrics. Develop DAX measures and calculations that support reporting and analytical requirements. Create intuitive visualizations that enable business users to understand performance and make data-driven decisions. Optimize reports for performance, usability, scalability, and adoption. Support new reporting initiatives and enhancements across multiple business functions. Microsoft Fabric & Data Platform Collaboration Develop reporting solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric data assets, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, and semantic models. Partner with Data Engineering teams to define data requirements and improve analytics-ready datasets. Contribute to business discussions regarding reporting architecture, data structures, and semantic model design. Support testing, validation, and reconciliation activities to ensure data quality and reporting accuracy. Help advance the organization's adoption of Microsoft Fabric and modern analytics practices. Data Modeling & Semantic Layer Development Develop reusable KPI definitions, business metrics, and reporting standards. Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to create reporting-friendly data structures that improve maintainability and performance. Understand when business logic should be implemented in source systems, Fabric data assets, semantic models, or DAX measures. Promote strong data modeling practices to reduce unnecessary complexity within Power BI. Support creation of reporting layers that serve multiple dashboards, reports, and business functions. Performance Optimization & Best Practices Understand and appropriately leverage Direct Lake, Import, and DirectQuery storage modes. Utilize Direct Lake capabilities where appropriate while balancing performance, scalability, refresh requirements, and user experience. Optimize semantic models, relationships, queries, and report performance. Identify opportunities to move business logic and transformations into upstream data layers when appropriate. Promote solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise analytics best practices. Documentation & Governance Create and maintain technical documentation, metadata definitions, KPI documentation, and reporting specifications. Document business rules, metric definitions, semantic model structures, and report logic. Support data lineage and traceability efforts. Follow established governance, security, and reporting standards. Contribute to reporting consistency and data quality initiatives. Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business questions into reporting solutions. Work closely with Product, Operations, Technology, and Data Engineering teams. Clearly communicate analytical findings and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Take ownership of solutions from requirements through deployment and support. What Success Looks Like Within your first year, you will: Successfully support the migration and modernization of legacy SSRS reporting assets. Help consolidate fragmented reporting into trusted Power BI dashboards and reusable semantic models. Establish consistent KPI definitions and business metrics across reporting solutions. Partner effectively with Data Engineering teams to improve analytics-ready datasets within Microsoft Fabric. Deliver scalable reporting solutions that balance Direct Lake, Import, and semantic model best practices. Contribute to a simpler, more maintainable, and more trusted reporting ecosystem at ServiceLink. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems, Analytics, Business, Computer Science, or a related field. 4+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Reporting, or related disciplines. Strong Power BI development experience, including dashboard development, semantic modeling, and DAX. Advanced SQL skills, including joins, CTEs, aggregations, window functions, and data validation techniques. Hands-on experience working with Microsoft Fabric. Experience working with Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, or modern cloud analytics platforms. Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, star schemas, fact and dimension design, and semantic modeling principles. Experience partnering with Data Engineering teams to consume and shape analytics-ready datasets. Understanding of Direct Lake, Import, and DirectQuery concepts and appropriate use cases. Experience working with SSRS, enterprise reporting platforms, or reporting modernization initiatives. Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Master’s degree (MS or MBA). Experience with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows, or Notebooks. Experience building or supporting Direct Lake semantic models. Experience migrating or consolidating SSRS reports into Power BI. Familiarity with Python or notebook-based analytics. Experience using AI-assisted tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
