Analyst, Portfolio Finance

Clearway’s Portfolio Finance team is a key contributor on both the development and operating sides of the business, covering both transactions during the construction and operations phases. The Portfolio Finance Analyst will be responsible for supporting the investor funding process for Clearway’s utility‑scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects, as well as certain asset optimization transactions such as refinancings, acquisitions of investor interests, valuations and other restructurings. This position is located in San Diego (Del Mar), CA. What You’ll Be Doing Supporting the funding process with tax equity investors, cash equity investors, and lenders for projects under construction, and the identification and execution of valuation maximization opportunities for the operating fleet (refinancing, tax/cash equity buyouts, repowering analysis, term‑loan facilities, and other ad‑hoc restructurings). Supporting the transaction lead on the internal deal funding checklist and certain “conditions precedent” for funding, including updating bring‑down assumptions, coordinating deliverables with engineers, transmission consultants, insurance consultants, and other third‑party advisors, and other documentation‑related funding conditions. Updating tax equity tracking models to track investor return on investment, flip dates, and other financial outcomes. Leading the cash distribution waterfall process for a subset of operating projects and calculating ongoing “Pay‑Go” invoicing. Establishing and sustaining productive relationships across Clearway’s major departments and functions (Capital Markets, Construction, Development, Asset Management, Energy Management, Legal, Accounting, and Tax) to ensure timely transaction closings and resolution of challenges. Collaborating frequently with lenders, tax equity investors, cash equity investors, consultants, and lawyers during construction‑period funding and operating‑period transactions. Summarizing project transaction status, risks/mitigants, and associated economic outcomes for senior management. What You’ll Bring Analyst: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or related field. 0‑4 years of experience in project finance, portfolio finance, or M&A in the energy sector. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and understanding of key financial concepts such as discounted cash flow analysis, time value of money, internal rate of return, and net present value. Experience building, auditing, and/or updating complex project finance models, with the ability to quickly generate summary economics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Self‑motivated, dependable, and accountable, eager to dive into daily tasks and seek additional responsibilities. Ability to work independently, multitask, and take ownership of projects and assignments. Understanding of financial, tax, accounting, and investment concepts. What Would Be Nice Tax equity experience is highly preferred. Experience with reading and interpreting investor financing agreements and project contracts is highly preferred. The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law.
