RN Infusion Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Infusion Services provides professional nursing care across the lifespan, focusing on the safe administration and monitoring of intravenous therapies, biologics, blood products, and specialty infusions. The RN conducts comprehensive patient assessments, develops individualized care plans, administers medications, manages infusion reactions, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes and patient-centered care. This role requires strong clinical judgment, patient education, and coordination with providers and pharmacy services in a culturally sensitive environment. Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately as per provider orders and policies.
• Monitor patients during infusion therapies, biologics, blood products, and specialty infusions for adverse reactions.
• Provide patient and family education related to infusion care, medications, and discharge planning.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, including escalation of care when necessary.
• Collaborate with providers, pharmacy services, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
• Maintain clinical competencies and certifications relevant to infusion nursing practice.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and adhere to safety and infection prevention standards.
• Provide guidance, delegation, and mentorship to ancillary staff, students, and peers.
• Float to other departments or assignments as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska or other U.S. state with application for Alaska license at time of hire.
• Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Clinical competency within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
• High-risk competency validation within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter.
• Proficiency in nursing assessment, medication administration, and infusion therapy management.
• Strong clinical judgment, organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Additional specialty certifications relevant to infusion nursing (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC) obtained within six months of hire if applicable.
• Experience with electronic health records and clinical systems.
• Experience working in culturally diverse healthcare settings.

Special Considerations:

• On-call availability may be required.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Work environment includes moderate-to-high noise clinical settings.
• Compliance with all safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements is mandatory.
• Accountability for nursing decisions and outcomes in accordance with Alaska Board of Nursing standards.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule and shifts to be determined by the facility; may include day, evening, or weekend shifts.
• Flexibility to float to other departments or assignments as needed.
