Activity Assistant

Purpose of the PositionThe Activity Assistant supports the Activity Director in planning, implementing, and evaluating activity programs that meet the physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs of residents in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.Part time: M/W/F 4p-8p; Every other weekend 10am-4pmDelegation of AuthorityThe Activity Assistant is authorized to:Assist in implementing activity programs that meet residents’ assessed needsMaintain resources and supplies necessary for activity programsAssist with required documentation and recordkeepingDuties and ResponsibilitiesDocument resident and/or family interactions in assessments, care plans, and progress notes in accordance with federal and state requirements.Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and attend resident care conferences as requested.Attend and contribute to department and management meetings as needed.Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of the activity program and recommend modifications as appropriate.Assist in developing the monthly activity calendar in coordination with the Activity Director, ensuring regulatory compliance.Ensure the activity calendar is posted in visible locations throughout the facility.Assist in planning and implementing Reality Orientation programs when appropriate.Assist with evening and weekend activity programs as required.Attend and participate in in-service education related to the Activity Program.Assist with organizing and scheduling community events based on residents’ interests.Plan and implement room visits and in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms.Assist with planning and implementing indoor and outdoor activity programs.Assist with activity programs designed to support residents’ return to the community when appropriate.Maintain accurate activity attendance records for each resident.Assess activity needs and maintain adequate supplies and equipment.Follow infection control procedures related to the Activity Program, including identifying residents who should not participate in group activities due to health concerns.Ensure the safety and well-being of residents under supervision.Perform assigned duties in a cooperative and professional manner.Follow all facility policies and procedures.Maintain neat, clean attire and a professional appearance.Report to work as scheduled and demonstrate dependability and punctuality.Work cooperatively with residents, resident representatives, facility staff, physicians, and ancillary service providers.Attend and participate in orientation and all required in-service and mandatory training programs.Maintain confidentiality of protected health information and promptly report any suspected or known violations.Serve on facility committees as appointed.Maintain positive working relationships with all departments.Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator or designee.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma requiredMinimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors, visitors, and the general publicAbility to read, write, and maintain required documentationGeneral knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to resident activitiesAbility and willingness to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as neededAbility to lead and assist with activity programs as assigned #J-18808-Ljbffr Priority Dispatch Corp.
